Houseplant 101 Workshop

Join us at Rio Rita to learn all our tips and tricks for choosing the perfect plant for your space! Enjoy a beverage while our houseplant gurus give a presentation on the basics- light, water, how to repot and keep plants happy for years to come! We will share some lesser known varieties of our favorites and finish with a Q&A.

Admission is free for all! If you would like to take home a plant of your own we will have a selection of plants and pottery you can mix and match and purchase for 20% off!

FALL GARDENING 101

Are you interested in creating an edible fall garden, but not sure where to start? In this introductory class we will cover all the basics of planting and care techniques. Topics will range from soil preparation, crop selection based on seasonal planting and growing plants from seed vs. starters. We will also briefly touch on other recommended items to plant during fall including wildflowers and trees.  All attendees will also receive a free print out of a seasonal vegetable planting guide.

Spring Vegetable Gardening 101 + Seed Swap

Join us for Spring Vegetable Gardening 101!! In this introductory class we will discuss all the basic planting tips and care techniques. Topics will range from organic soil preparation, what to plant now, growing plants from seed vs. starters and natural pest control. All attendees will receive a free print out of a seasonal vegetable planting guide and a chance to win gardening prizes. 

Starting at 12pm we will also be hosting a seed swap so bring any of your extra seeds to trade with your fellow gardeners.

Compost Basics

Join Compost Coalition's Joseph M. de Leon for a composting basics at Tillery Street Plant Company. This free class will cover different composting systems, what to compost and how to keep your compost (and you) happy. Plus you will qualify for the City of Austin compost voucher and a kitchen compost pail, while supplies last.

Joseph has been a Compost Coalition activist for more than four years. Along with general composting, he also brings his experience with pet poo composting and composting with chickens.
